Using Public Safety Funds to Support Community Members’ Behavioral Health

Wednesday, October 12, 2022 | 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time

Law enforcement officers are often the first responders when a person is experiencing a behavioral health crisis, but some public safety leaders are trying to change that. From mental health clinicians to peer navigators, sheriffs and police chiefs across the country are investing funds from their own budgets in the behavioral health workforce to provide the treatment and services to people in need before they come into contact with law enforcement or jails. Join NACo to hear from county leaders pioneering these efforts.
